

AARON B. LACKEY, SR.
Bishop Aaron B. Lackey, Sr. is the youngest child of the late Deacon James E. Lackey, Sr. and the late Mother Nornell H. Lackey. God has blessed the Bishop to receive his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies, a Master of Arts degree in Biblical Counseling, and a Doctorate of Biblical Studies degree, plus many honorary degrees from various institutions.
My Story
Bishop Aaron B. Lackey, Sr. is the youngest child of the late Deacon James E. Lackey, Sr. and the late Mother Nornell H. Lackey. A man of faith, vision, and service, Bishop Lackey has devoted his life to advancing the Kingdom of God and uplifting communities through servant leadership.
God has blessed Bishop Lackey with extensive theological training, including a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies, a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling, and a Doctor of Biblical Studies, in addition to numerous honorary degrees
from respected institutions.
On March 2, 1985, he married his high school sweetheart, Lakita Y. Caldwell. Their union has stood strong for almost 41 years and has been blessed with two accomplished children: Aaronlyn Lackey Wright (Leon, Jr.) and Aaron B. Lackey, Jr. (Asia). Bishop Lackey is also the proud grandfather of Xavier L. Wright and Aalivia D. Wright.

Throughout his ministry, Bishop Lackey has received numerous honors, awards, and proclamations. Yet, he often states that his greatest honor is serving and empowering “The Least, The Less, The Lost, and The Left Out.” His philosophy of Servant Leadership is evidenced through sustained community activism and compassion-driven outreach.
Since 2015, through Aaron B. Lackey Ministries, Inc. and Temple of Prayer Family Worship Cathedral, Bishop Lackey has led an Annual Christmas Giveaway in Fairburn, Georgia. This initiative distributes an estimated $150,000 annually in food, clothing, blankets, toys, and bicycles to families across Fairburn, Union City, Palmetto, and South Fulton, Georgia.
In January 2019, following a national search, Bishop Lackey was selected as one of only 40 pastors nationwide to become a Hampton University P.R.I.M.E. Fellow. Later that year, he was named one of the “Top 25 Extraordinary Atlantans” by the Atlanta Business Journal Magazine. He has also been recognized by the Georgia Secretary of State as an “Outstanding Georgia Citizen” on three separate occasions.
In 2023, Bishop Lackey received both the President’s Volunteer Service Award and the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award from President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. That same year, he released “Let’s Go to Church!”, a musical project featuring the United Churches of God in Christ (UCOGIC) Mass Choir.
At the 2024 Rhythm of Gospel Awards, Bishop Aaron Lackey & the UCOGIC Choir won Contemporary Choir of the Year, Gospel Song of the Year, and New Artist of the Year. In 2025, the group was further honored with Best Choir of the Year, Best CD of the Year, and Best Video of the Year. Also in 2025, Bishop Lackey received certification from the Law Enforcement Alliance for Peer Support (L.E.A.P.S.).
On April 9, 2026, the Bishop will be inducted into the prestigious Martin Luther King, Jr. Board of Preachers at Morehouse College.
